Elysium, a.k.a Mexicans in Space

Open borders and free healthcare for all non-citizens.

The dichotomy of this movie is pretty basic:

Elysium (2013) is a white person’s futuristic paradise miles above what is left of the squalor of Earth, a.k.a. Little Mexico. Non-citizens are constantly trying to break into the space station to access the free health care system and fresh clean air. Back on Earth, they are monitored like stray dogs in a police state, where they rob and murder each other just like they do in modern-day East Los Angeles. Along the way, the viewer is supposed to feel sorry for the overpopulated Hispanic masses who just want to be “citizens” after rich whitey has destroyed the planet by global warming and exploiting all her precious natural resources.
